Three Kinds of Mourning

10 Days of Prayer is built around a rather unattractive activity: Mourning. What does it mean to mourn and lament? Why would anyone want to enter into mourning voluntarily? When we mourn, we focus on what we have lost and what we lack. As the Bible makes clear, recognizing what we are missing is often the key to receiving what we most deeply need. This teaching covers three areas of mourning, as it relates to our personal life, mourning for the unrealized promises of God, and longing for the return of Jesus.

10 Days is a tangible step of obedience toward the answer to Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21: “Let them be one as we are one.” This is about seeing Jesus receive the answer to His dying wish, for the John 17 unity of His followers. “Jesus gets what He prays for!”

Every year in cities around the world, believers come together in a citywide prayer meeting for 10 days in September. We take a break from what’s normal on earth so we can enter into what’s normal in heaven.

We hope you'll join us in the Global Upper Room this September.
